You won't need an italian frame. The English or Italian refers to the type of threading within the bottom bracket shell. Different types of bottom brackets are available in both English an Italian threads, so depending on your frame you will need a specific bb but to use these cranks you will need a bb with the correct taper length, which is independent of weather it is English or Italian. Sorry bit of a mouth full, hope it makes sence

I have found an old compatibility chart (1) for shimano (1998) with the FC-6500 cranks being compatible with a 6500 BB (naturally) and the 5500 (150) bottom brackets should work fine (http://sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html), with a length of 109.5mm for the 6500 dual ultegra cranks.
So...would the105 ocatlink v1 68mm 109.5mm be an applicable BB for the 6500 ultegra cranks and an english frame?

Those are self extracting crank bolts so you should just be able to undo the bolts and the cranks will come off.
As regards bottom bracket length, sounds about right. If you're getting an englisj threaded bb and using the same wheels etc then probably just measure the bb you have now and get the same size in english threading.

they will work with 5500/6500/7700/7710 109.5mm octalink bottom brackets
Good evening. I have a recent written off Coppi frame with all Ultegra parts. I have started to strip the bike but have gotten to the BB and cranks last.
How do I go about removing them (these funny looking dustcaps are confusing).
And also would the cranks be usable with a shimano English BB or must I get an Italian frame again. (Sorry...bit of a bike noob).
