  • Yep, this was a daytime recce for the 5 April ride. Leggy, Susie, Jurek and me. It was all looking ace - some stonking potholes to look out for, but Simon's got all that in hand. Sadly I can't come next Thursday. Enjoy it.

  • Went on a club run this morning which nearly broke me. But I guess that's the point.

  • first proper ride of the summer and loving it. bit windy and chilly but loads of unusually friendly.people about and amazingly no near death bike vs. tourist driver moments.
met some nice peeps at the coffee shop at buttermere talking about bikes, dogs, coffee and girls. ideal.

wish every ride went as well as that :)

  • Buttermere.jealous.
I was gonna day great track sesh yesterday but it seems toss compared to a few passes and Lakeland scenery.
Was great track sesh though.love coaching kids then just getting quiet and centered in the minimal zone of 86" constant.
Getting behind derny in the pocket is like your best ever street draft but way better

  • 60 crisp and sunny miles around epping forest today. tried to take in all the climbs i could think of in the area, and managed a good 8 or 9 (mott st., high beech, claypitt hill, dawes hill et al). obviously, being essex, none are horrendous, but certainly spiced things up a bit.

staggered off to LMNH after and managed to totally miss the tour of flanders which was a bit annoying

  • Borehamwood is up a fucking hill.

  • Last weekend was the furthest I've cycled in a while, thoroughly enjoyed it too. Just from Peckham to Haringey Green Lanes and back but still about 22 miles according to Google maps.

Was on the trusty Raleigh with faintly erotic lugs.

  • Missed out on the London Classic last weekend so rode it this morning in glorious sunshine.
    Bloody marvellous.
Most of the waymarking signs were still up but the GPS route Soul put up on the ride thread really helped.
First time up Pepys, Canonbie etc but I enjoyed the cobbles most.

  • Did the seven hills of Bukit Tunku, Kuala Lumpur this morning and yesterday morning. The heat and humidity are something else...

  • Having not ridden my bikes for quite a few months, I finished my Dolan last night, and went for a 20 km ride round the airport this morning. 9 minutes slower than the same ride last autumn, but great feeling to be back on the road...

  • Yesterdays jaunt, first bit with a mate who peeled off at Peaslake to see his parents, second half solo. A route I know like the back of my hand, but the first big ride of the year. Weather was okay, bit chilly in the afternoon and wished I'd worn my overshoes and longs. Loved it. [ame="http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1061698"]http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1061698[/ame

  • Nipped down to Richmond Park, cycled round it- very dull, so here is a pretty 3D representation of my ride:

  • Very informative chart. You must have enjoyed the green section?

  • I can one-up the graph with a video of the crit me and Dov rode in on Saturday.

I'm the fat bastard on a Cervelo on the front of the pack wasting an enormous amount of energy for little gain dishing out the pain at 00:08 with Dov on my wheel.

    We look hot in 720p

  • dosent look very beyond spring does it, ffs..
anyhow, looking commanding- how did yous finish?

  • I have now learned Cat 4 "sprints" on the road are not at all like track bunch sprints I am used to. Was happy to still be on two wheels as I crossed the line somewhere in 15-20 I think out of 59 starters. Dov near top 10 from counting heads on that vid.

  • nice work there. tactics not tictacs eh.

  • I just got back from France, where I rode the last 100 kms of Paris Roubaix, from Arenburg to the velodrome on Saturday.
Then spent the Sunday driving a minibus full of people to various sectors of pave, to follow the race. A very cool weekend.

  • Few more of the 100 Climbs bagged:
http://100climbsfor2012.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/three-counties-ride.html (125 miles including Whiteleaf, Coombe Gibbet and Streatley Hill)

http://100climbsfor2012.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/yarrrkshyre-hills.html (Yorkshire Dales - Norwood Edge and Greenhow Hill)

http://100climbsfor2012.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/climbing-up-tmoors.html (North York Moors - White Horse Hill, Boltby Bank, Carlton Bank and t'Rosedale Chimney).

Top few weeks of riding and now can't wait for May to roll on (Etape du Dales, Peak District and Fred Whitton await)

  • I was back in Cheltenham for the Easter weekend and managed to get in a nice near century on Saturday. The weather started off pretty grim, brightened up for a bit and then it tipped down for the last twenty. Still, it was a nice route through some lovely country and had a couple of fun descents.

That does indeed sound like a very cool weekend.

Both of which make my first outing in 9 weeks sound very tame.
40 miles in the Herts countryside. Sure felt good to be turning the cranks again though.

  • Camberwell to Norwich on Good Friday. 121miles medium laden on the tourer. Legs still a bit sore... First half was lovely; third quarter a bit grey and headwindy; final quarter rainy and hard work. Praise be to double portions of lasagne on arrival!

  • Sunday: a lovely pootle from London to Cambridge Via Lee Valley Canal.
Lunch in Ware, nice amount of ups and downs afterwards on the B-roads, drinks in Cambridge then train home. About 60miles. Would recommend it!

good effort, what route did you take and how did you map your ride? you take some sort of Sat NAv system?

am thinking of doing this this summer.

  • jimbo we are doing 200 miles back to Norwich during the summer if you fancy it?

Otherwise I'm sure there's a few good routes back.
