i learned the other day that Victorinox have never had to made anyone redundant
You mean no one's ever been laid off?
-
• #27031
never let anyone go because they couldn't afford to keep them on, here's the bit:

+1 on Gerber.
I've always stayed away from Leatherman due to the dubious way they peddle their political views. They were well-known for screwing over soldiers involved in the recent wars who, whether you agree with the wars or not, really needed their tools. I had a friend who experienced firsthand having his tool break and them almost flat-out refusing to return it to him when he sent it in for repair.
Politics aside, that's shitty business and if they selectively choose whose stuff to warranty properly based on arbitrary factors, I have little faith in their warranty as a whole.
They do make excellent tools, though... but so do Gerber...
Good to know, I got a leather man for cheap but was looking for a smaller kind that's also lighter, gerber it is.

Ed, gerber make the kit from the walking dead

how important is it that a continental gatorskin is pointing the correct way? I'm guessing it doesnt make any difference as it has no thread on it but I thought I'd check.

Its not important.

I'm going to blame all punctures on you now.

hey, any chance of getting some advice? need to get it sorted by the end of week so i can get to college you see :P
Hi everyone, are there cheap and cheerful 8 x 2 speed thumb shifters (right 8, left 2) that would fit 22.5 nitto risers. Its for my HHSRB (hip hop slave road bike) project.
its gotta be cheap though, very max £50
otherwise can I just use a 3 ring shifter with only two cogs? -

Unless you hang out in Porn/Anti

I'd go for Victorinox over Wenger for the sharpness of the blades.

I'm going to assume your bars are actually 22.2, and that you have a Shimano RD and 8s cassette. In that case, Alivio shifters will sort out your rear shifting duties.
Your problem is going to be at the front; Shimano MTB shifters don't play nicely with road FDs, although it's not clear why you'd need the extra complexity of multiple chainrings on a shopping bike

What's this all about? Were they against Iraq? What were they refusing to do exactly?
They'd just hold onto knives being warrantied, take waaaay longer than they should and keep providing wooly excuses as to why they weren't sending it back. Non-soldiers had no such issues.
The owner of Leatherman was strongly anti-war and that's how he decided to push it, apparently...

Pretty unprofessional. He could've just come up with a anti-war slogan to print on the box.

Are you sure about this?
I mean, they make a product which they advertise as being specifically for the military...

Which doesn't sound very anti-war!

Is it normal for my balance to feel so dodgy and my 120psi rear tyre to almost pinch flat on bumps now i'm riding with a rack a 20kg worth of pannier bag (10 each side)?
Rode home from Stratford--->Dunstable and it was like learning to balance again at times
-
• #27047
The balance thing is normal. Pinch flats are not.

What size? 23c? 25c?

No, the diameter are 23.8mm, they are nitto.
is there not solution for this or should i just get 22.2mm bars? -
• #27050
Get 22.2 bars, solutions for putting gear levers on fat flat bars are out of your price range.
Use a hammer instead of your fists
