My brother and his mate have just been left to pickup the tab from a housemate who decided he wouldn't pay bills, then no rent either after he effectively moved into his gf's flat a few doors down, and when questioned 'why are you not paying these essential things', his response was 'well I'm not there most of the time so I don't think I should have to'....
Luckily before the landlord inserted a random, their houseKat (a feral girl called Kathryn who effectively lives on the sofa as she has no real home) stumped up some cash and took up proper residence, and it all ended well enough :)
