Here's the guide to today's MHBP Polo Cat 2012:
Manifest - This sheet is given to each team of two riders at the beginning of the event. It provides cryptic clues and information about locations of the checkpoints. The manifest will be required as evidence that your team completed the tasks – please do not lose it before the finish.
**Checkpoints **- There will be 10 checkpoints spread around the city – each will have a 100 point or 50 point score dependent on its location.
Your team is required to** visit checkpoints together**. Riders arriving individually at checkpoint (ie. the team mate can not be seen by the marshall) will be docked points or DQd.
At each checkpoint you will either record the information requested on your manifest or perform a task to the satisfaction of the marshall at the checkpoint. The tasks you will perform will either be silly or physically difficult, but not dangerous. Please listen carefully to the marshall – their decisions are final! Some checkpoints may be unmanned – please continue with the challenges set out on the manifest for that checkpoint and move on. Your team will not be docked points if you are not seen at these particular checkpoints.
Criteria for Winning –
Each team must reach 9 out of the 10 checkpoints within the 8.45pm deadline to qualify for the overall prize.
A bonus of 100 points will be awarded to all teams that visit the 10 checkpoints and attempt the all challenges.
The team that visits the nine or ten checkpoints recorded in their manifest and return to the finish* may* be declared the winners. However, it is possible/probable that teams arriving later will have collected more bonus points through successfully completing the challenges set at the checkpoints.
All manifests and challenge submissions will be reviewed fully by the MHBP judges before a winning team is declared before the announcement and prize giving at the MHBP launch party!
You are responsible for your safety - bring a map, pen, a rear light and a helmet if you can. Teams are expected to adhere to all traffic laws, respect pedestrians and not be jerks. Stay safe at all times and don’t take silly risks with trams and cars…Smart Phones- Yes, you can use your stupid smart phone during the challenge, but odds are that it might slow you down or you’ll drop it…
