I have noticed that I'd been deleted from the list. That wasn't because I'd changed my mind - I'm still intending to come, so Ive put myself back again.

It might be good to have the run leader's mobile phone no. available.
It's only too easy to get separated and lost, and no fun for the rest of the group to hang about for ages waiting for some one to catch up when they are on a completely different road.

Puncturing on the way to Richmond is another possibility.

My no. is: 0796 3636 784, but I'm not leading.

I agree with Ed and the others above. Attempting this trip without brakes doesn't make any sense. It would put other members of the group at risk, but also would make for so much extra work for the brakeless rider. It's hard enough to have to push to go faster, pushing to go slower is just something you can do without.

A junior member of a pro team who failed to finish a race and offered a puncture as an excuse was once told by his cruel *directeur sportif *"Only tired riders puncture!"

I don't think this is true, but I do think tired riders are more prone to crashing. I've seen it happen so many times, and had some of my own back rims smashed to pieces. But, up to now anyway, the riders who caused the trouble did at least have brakes.
