Casati Monza - marbled

  • Bought this lovely Casati Monza frame a while back. Been busy collecting bits and pieces.

Here is a pic of the frame:

I bought the frame off the bay and it came with a casati chromed fork, unfortunately, the fork does not fit the frame. I have managed to acquire a columbus fork with correct steerer length since.

    The parts I have:
    Campy chorus headset
    Campy record BB
Campy super record hubs (8 speed)
    Campy record 27mm seatpost
    Campy record front derailleur
    Campy record downtube shifters
    Campy record crankset
    Cinelli stem - original stamp
    Cinelli drops

I have to choose between the two sets of brakes in the flikr stream.

I also have a zipp 440 rear (8speed) and will need to probably swap the zipp track front I have for a machined zipp 440 front.

    Still need:
    Rear derailleur - campy record
Campy record brake levers and hoods

I can't wait to finish this project!

If anybody has any recommendations or ideas please let me know. Most of the parts could also be used on one of my other projects (bottecchia or empella lo-pro).

    Thanks,
    Matt

  • Awesome, I love casatis - I have two, one road and one lo pro - both have amazing handling and awesome paint jobs, good luck with the build, it sounds like a good one:-)

  • Yeah, their paint jobs are lovely. My girlfriend has a red slx one with nouvo record parts, it's weight is minimal!

  • That red Casati Char rides is beautiful. Looking forward to seeing it on Boxing day mate!

  • Oh and have you still not built this up yet????!

  • been busy with the bottecchia and with some furniture building. Looking forward to a third day on the trot of food, wine and beer on Boxing day.

Change of plan, decided to make the Casati fixed for now. Not too sure about having a tubular front wheel for longer rides.

Due to being made for 650 wheels, once 700's are fitted, there is zero clearance...problems if bubblegum gets stuck to wheel on a hot summers day...

  • I've changed the pedals/cages for spd-sl's as I much prefer clipless.
