Yesterday evening I actually stopped someone near Aldgate East riding my girlfriends bike that was stolen back in October 2010.
In hindsight what I should have done was call the police straight away - but the guy riding it seemed nice enough.
I explained the bike was stolen from our flat (among 5 others) see this post: http://www.lfgss.com/post1723446-5221.html (her's is the resprayed blue Condor.)
That I wasn't looking to take "his" (our!) bike away from him, but that I would be interested to find out where he got it from (turns out from a friend who got it off Gumtree.)
Anyway, he told me his name was Brendan and gave me his (as it turns out - wrong) phone number. All very friendly. Anyway - as the mug I am - I let him go... but I would like to talk to him again and as it turns out - the GF would quite like the bike back too.
I did manage to take a picture of the bike as it is now, but unfortunately not him... (I know what an idiot I am!)
I'd like to track him down properly - so if anyone knows the bike, or "Brendan" could you get in touch with me... or let him know I'd like to talk to him.
He's about 5'9" with longish curly hair.
I'm kicking myself now - I know I've probably lost it again for the second time. I'd be interested to know what my rights were if this happened again.
