Should naked frames have paintjobs?

This frame is crazy. Where did you get the paint job done?

That detail on the Somec's head lug, sehr gut.

Looks fine to me. Lots more pix in the ebay listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/1978-MASI-California-PISTA-vintage-track-frameset-57cc-Campagnolo-original-cond-/360392581817
57cm hardly counts as a 'larger frame', especially as most forumengers seem to be over 6'3"

No, but some of the taller members do love to wang on about their height...

the stem angle is hideous.
I don't understand this. The flat bit is perfectly horizontal and the bit coming out of the head tube is, er, coming out at the same angle as the head tube, which looks perfectly conventional. Or am I missing something?

Klein frames always looked on the heavier side to me maybe its the thick tubing, but the thing I dont get about this is the excess steerer tube and spacers?

I absolutely adore these old raleighs:

Perfectly conventional. This is a porn thread, for me that means it's about aesthetics not convention.
But what would you change about the stem to make it meet your exacting criteria?

He'd probably prefer a 65 degree 2A

Some serious magnets holding this thing up

From an aesthetics perspective, I would have it angled down so it creates an imaginary line up to the nose of the saddle. I would also have the seat post out at a length that is approximately equal to the head tube length. Finally the bars would follow the line of the stem before curling off into the drop.
It's a bicycle, not an artistic composition. The saddle and handlebar position are determined by the morphology of the rider, not your arbitrary aesthetic whim.

Shame about the frame, build, set-up and picture composition
