Anyone looking to get in a multi order at Armourtex?
Failing that, anyone know where to get a matte black quill stem, bar rattlecanning?

Absolutely love the Merckx, Dwayne. It's to your usual high standards and the custom decals are superb. I look forward to seeing it in the flesh.

I've almost finished this;
A Scapin Blake that is going to be my training and race bike this summer. I've always wanted a Scapin and this came up on eBay recently as a complete bike with Ultegra so I bought it and swapped over the components from my Colnago Primavera as I just couldn't get on with the STI shifting levers. I will have a load of stuff to sell soon once I've cleaned everything up and photographed it.
The Scapin should get it's first proper ride this weekend but from a quick spin around the block yesterday evening, it's very stiff and direct.
This is it in race mode, although I need to tape the tubs still.

Looking good.
Which of the FSA's chainsets is that, is it 11sp specific, and has it been ok?

Looks.FAST.
Awaits Andy's for sale thread...

It's the Team Issue chainset, I don't know if it's 11 sp specific and I've ridden it for 5 mins max so hard to say.
I've a Chorus chainset which I can fit but need the BB30 adaptor first. I was going to test the FSA one out first and then change it if I don't get on with it.

I would'nt have thought the chainset needed to be 11spd specific. Mine isnt, yet works fine (KMC 11spd chain).

Bloody nice BTW.

That's a good looking bike Andy.
Is it replacing one of the others?
-
• #58941
Thanks, Dwayne. It's replacing the Colnago Primavera.

Was thinking that too, despite the chain being thinner, the inside diameter is still the same, thus work on any 3/32 chainset*.
*AFAIK.

I think you are both right. The Chorus chainset I have is meant to be 10 speed specific but works fine with an 11 speed chain.
-
• #58944
Ta for the info.
FSA's prices for nicer aftermarket stuff seem steep anyway so I'll keep looking...
-
• #58945
The 11 speed chain is needed because of the closer cog spacing in the cassette which means the chain has to be thinner on the outside to pass between cogs. The internal dimension of the chain as Ed said is still 3/32 so will function on any 3/32 chain ring ..

newly arrived from teh bay:
zaschke, lovely stiff (and weighty) columbus max. requires complete strip down, treatment and refinish as the rust has taken firm hold at downtube bosses, cable routes and head/top tube.Oh , thats a really nice looking frame. By the look of the seat cluster and forkcrown it seems that my reading comprehension isnt up to date.

I've found a possible replacement frame for my rat-bike. It's an F. W. Evans, 531 tubing with headset and BB already installed. The geezer wants 20 quid for it. Reckon it's a bargain? From what I can read from searching on here FW Evans made some pretty tidy tourer frames that fetch around £100 in good condition...

I've heard rumours that the thin 11 speed chain can drop down the gap between the cahinrings.... which is why I avoided 10 speed chainsets when upgrading my Athena.
This is just internet rumour though.... so is about as trustworty as edscobles bike fitting advice.

Sweet ride BTW andy.... Appart from the red, of course. But I guess it matches your inferior club kit.
