Is that Reynolds 525 or 631 tubing?
-

arg. mashing up the two-guy I bought it from said it was 631, the decals aren't there but it is pretty light and any similar Orrell's I've seen have been of 631+ so I'm pretty sure he was right.

does it have braze ons for a rack?

got mudguard eyes and I used some marine grade stainless steel rubberised P-Clips for rack fastening. Happy to include a couple with frame...

Neil Orrell's frames have a good reputation.

Open to offers if the price is too high...
Can't emphasise how nice this rides-great build quality and the CX geometry gives a more upright position than a road frame so very comfy for longer rides/touring and good clearances for guards.
Had this built up with a silver Veloce 10 speed groupset and a band on mech/ksyrium wheels and it was a lovely looking steed.

Postage possible if arranged before Friday... Any later and I'll be putting it into storage for next winter CX or some late season touring!

Looks lovely. Good deal for some one.

Right... Going to keep this one. Too nice and I'll likely regret it too much if I let her go for a pittance!

Orrell frames are great - I know, I've got one! They're very well made and lovely to ride as you say.
I can't remember how much you had it on for but the price seemed very fair to me.
I'm pretty sure it will be either 531 or 631 - Neil used 531 until it ran out then switched to 631. I've never heard of him using 525.
If you want to find out for sure give him a ring - he keeps details of all the bikes he's built and is happy to share if you give him your frame number. 0161 681 1517.

Cheers Fox, I very well may do that as I bought it without knowing much about him and was really pleasantly surprised to find out how nice it rode-think I will be waiting till I can next pick up a good but cheap 10 spd groupset again and break her out as my all purpose steed.
How old is your frame? I'm guessing mine is early nineties but will need to confirm with orrell.

A little more info: uber_gruber, sold me the frame, thanks uber_gruber and I followed Fox's advice and rang Mr Orrell. It is a 531c frame from 1989. Thanks Fox for the 'phone number.
Hello,
Enforced clearout continues...
Nice old school Neil Orrell cross/touring frame. 55cm square, plenty of clearance for chunky tires and nice and light made from Reynolds 631 tubing. Orrell is a well known frame builder oop north and makes quality bikes... This is a lovely frame to ride and I've ridden her all winter with knobbly tires and a rack in much comfort and style but I'm slimming down my bike collection and trying to raise funds...

Frame is good condition, all tubes sound and paint is good but some chips and scratches as you would expect. 130 rear spacing and am including both headset, 3ttt stem and froggleg canti brakes with swiss stop slimline pads.
