I like my Paul, the blade is a little square but it's fine. Did you have it on the right pull length? mines easy enough to pull.

Nothing to do with your lever, it's the rebound on your brake arms, you set it too high. Paul levers do not come with a rebound spring.
i really don't like the paul duplex levers, i find them pretty heavy to pull and the shape of the lever seems to give people pretty bad blisters. My moded deore cost me £12.50 and i wouldn't change it at all

Also it's your weak fingers ;)

Paul or Diacompe?
Diacompe is short pull I imagine, but I'll ask.
Diacompe's tech-77 double is for short pull. many Japanese player use that. (yes, it is not expensive than others.)

I love my Paul lever, it does sit a bit further away from your hand than a short-pull Promax but you soon get used to it...

may i just say i don't own a paul lever so the crap setting up was not down to my shit mechanic skillz, my weak fingers however are my own fault

The long pull promax sits pretty freaking far from the bar too...
-
• #34
Umm, the promax levers have grub screws so you can change the starting position of the lever...
-
• #35
Yeah but they are tiny (m3?) and I've snapped it.
I've actually replaced it with another one from another brake but I don't want to make it stick out too far in case I snap it again.

I can't see how... fair enough.

It's not that hard, I broke them on my previous polo bike too..

Fingers are too strong.

Wtfu.

To break the grub screw, you'd have to pull the lever in reverse (effectively pushing the lever away from your hand rather than just releasing it)?
Or you have some crazy spring tension giving your lever an impressive recoil, or something?

He's just an animal.

Or catching the brake cable on something... That's how it happened on my steamer.
My previous polo bike it was probably too far out and it missed the bit of lever it was supposed to catch and was bent by it. Although it was probably in a crash. Not certain how it happened on the promax... Just noticed it wasn't as close as before and when I looked there was half a grub screw...

All this goes to prove that it may not be the promax's fault I've broken it :)
