If I remember correctly 22mm USA bearings had a slightly larger OD than their 19mm counterparts, as when the Mid bottom bracket came about companies were having to get custom bearings made. So 19mm USA bearings will fit into a Mid bottom bracket shell, but 22mm USA bearings will not.
