  • Hello,

Reluctant sale of a beautifully built 1987 Mercian Professional Lugless. Beautifully brazed frame that was top of the line in its day and is still made by Mercian albeit in different Reynolds tubing.

    Spec:

Frame: 1987 Mercian Pro Lugless, 55cm square, Reynolds 531 Professional tubing.

Chainset, Seatpost, mechs, Campag Chorus 1st Gen

    Brakes, Campagnolo Monoplanar

    8spd Mirage Ergo Levers

Rear wheel Campag Vento, good condition. 8spd Record Cassette.

Front wheel 1st Gen Chorus hub laced to Mavic Open 4CD aero rim. Loads of life left and spinning smooth and true.

    Cinelli Criterium 42cm Bars

    Cinelli 1a 80mm stem

    Rolls saddle.

Paint is not original but is in good overall condition, a few small marks and a rub where I had a slightly loose band on bottle cage. Easily touched up. Also have an email from Mercian confirming the age and serial number from when I ordered the replacement decals. All bits in good condition and running well... always stored inside and well looked after.

Don't know how to price it really-looking for a quick sale though as I'm moving to Rotterdam for a couple of months to work and need the cash. I'd be happy with £450, welcome to come view in Stoke Newington, N16, any questions pm.

Looking for quick easy sale so first with cash is king-donation will be made to forum.

    Thanks!

    Prefer local sale, ta

  • Lovely bargain

  • oh god

  • Cheers... wish I could keep it but I'm flying close to the sun on finances and am trying to do good enough work to get onto an MA course this year ;/

  • forgot to say pedals are ultegra sl spd's and headet is a nice stronglight one with needle bearings so super easy to maintain.

  • STREWTH
    what a beauty

  • wow, that's absolutely lovely, PM-ed

  • Hi there would you be ok posting to North yorkshire? If so please would you call me on 07912-032659 or email dave@hudson1777.fsnet.co.uk

  • would prefer to avoid post at the moment and have a couple of folk coming to view who are local but will get back to you if that doesn't work out. ta

  • Is this still available?

  • yes

  • PM'ed

  • Too small bah...

  • I can testify this is amazing in the flesh and very light. Wasn't quite right for me for but should please someone a lot!

  • Beautiful!

  • hawt. needs matching ventos (or better) though

  • agree about the ventos. shit hawt otherwise

  • Cheers guys. I quite like the look of low profile aero on the front and deeper section shiny rim on the rear... think it gives a nice balance but I guess that's personal preference...

Either way it nips along very nicely and I could hardly detect much of a weight difference between this and my carbon Wilier which is testament to Mercian's building skills.

  • to get onto an MA course this year ;/

Academie van de Bouwkunst? Or Berlage Instituut..? (hmm.. that's postgrad isn't it..)

  • Applying to Piet Zwart Institute for sure... Waiting to hear back from a couple of places in Sweden also.

  • PM'ed again!

  • Piet Zwart Institute

    That's interior architecture then right?

edit, see their Master's also Architecture and Retail design

    Anyways, good luck!

  • Btw, a friend of mine now lives in Rotterdam for an internship at a well-known firm, the city really is much nicer then anticipated.. Almost tempted to go live and work there once I finish my studies here in Eindhoven (Architecture Master's 1st year)..

  • Well I'm looking forward to seeing how it is... I'm looking at the fine art MA btw. Heard there's a lot of good things to see and do and will of course be taking my road bike so looking forward to getting some rides in!

  • Ah.. my bad.. assumed the A in MA to be architecture.. anyways free bumpz, she's gorgeous..
