Oh shit. I live on Deptford High Street and came across the scene earlier. As OP states, the police were not willing to divulge any info. Local opinions varied between "mangled motorbike", "cyclist knocked off" and one group of lads even thought there had been a gunfight in Wavelengths!
The air ambulance was on the scene pretty quickly and left about 20 mins later.
My thoughts are with anybody/everybody affected by what sounds like a really nasty accident.
