• Hoping I've posted this in the right place, if not apologies.

But yeah, just wondering if anybody else has had bits nicked lately around Dalston?

I know its never been the greatest place to lock up, but between myself, mates and mates of mates, a lot has been going missing lately.

A few weeks back, between 4 of us, we lost a stem, bars, seat post and saddle. Oh yeah and a wheel.

Seems a bit hot lately and the F**ker knows what they are looking for too.

  • Wouldn't be surprised - was a bit further down Kingsland Road the other night and some guy was wheeling a bike with one hand and had another wheel in the other. Obviously it may have been his wheel, but at 9pm would you be taking your spare wheel for some fresh air?
Then had a meal and a Rossin that was near the restaurant was missing a wheel by the time we got out.
If it isn't nailed down etc etc....

  • Yeah sounds suspicious to say the least huh.

I see missing wheels all the time around Kingsland Road.

Thing with this guy though, is he knows what hes looking for. On that night he even took my mates seat post off and left his saddle jammed into his spoke ha.

A few people are saying its a lot worse at the min. Vigilante group anyone? haha

  • I can add a +1 to seeing it around Dalston and having parts nicked. Lost a seatpost and saddle not long ago and there always seem to be bikes missing random parts around. Thieves who know what's easy to steal and worth their effort. I'm curious as to where all these stolen parts get sold.

  • The usual spots are brick lane on a weekend, but i rekon this guy isnt your average bike thief. I would seriously love to set a trap. I think the trouble is, these guys think we are all a bunch of hipsters that wouldnt say boo to a goose.

  • Someone in Bournemouth's been nicking wheels lately, it's a nationwide crime spree.

  • On that night he even took my mates seat post off and left his saddle jammed into his spoke ha.

Souns a bit snobby TBH. Could have got something for the saddle surely?

The one thing worse than a thief is a snobby thief.

  • sting operation surely

  • Wut?!?! Things are getting stolen in the East?! Really?! OMG! Things are never stolen in Londons famous London...

  • Very funny ha. Like I say, I know that, as does everyone else i ride with. The thing is, it seems hot right now. Seems like a certain dickhead is out on it a lot now.

and Michael, yeah snobby or just in the know how. He took the time to remove an average saddle so he could take a 70 quid seat post. Then took my other mates expensive saddle, while leaving mine that was even worth 70 quid. Maybe he's building a bike though ha

  • Building on a tight budget, it's gotta be tough out there!!

If he's that specific though, once he's caught he should be trained as a mechanic, clearly displaying bike building skills with an encyclopedic knowledge.

  • I'm now waiting to see if someone has their phil bb nicked, but their fuck-ugly paul cranks left behind....
Ball bearings, superglue in the allen heads, discussed on here many times. Best you can do for your bars and saddle really. If i had a £70 seatpost/posh saddle I'd probably take it with me in Dalston.

  • it is amazing the number of hipster whips in that area, it's a tea leafs wet dream. why people don't just roll on hack bikes in that part of town i don't know.

We had a brooks saddle taken from outside the house (West london) about 3 weeks ago. it's spreading.

  • I saw a dodgy looking guy wheeling a bike missing a front wheel this morning in the east end, looked quite odd.

  • NOooo!!! REALLY?!

  • Front page News..... Pause Thread while we all stand in utter shock... Really?

  • He might have just had his wheel nicked and was hacked off haha
