Can't help with the year of your bike but those Elans are ten a penny. Nice bike to start with but you will very quickly want to move onto something better IMHO.

I still love the bike, though. Fantastic little thing. I’m using it mainly as a commuter bike, with a casual ride on a Sunday or two around the countryside.

Initially I was going to convert it into a single-speed/fixed-gear but I’ve now decided to keep all the original bits n bobs, use it as a commuter bike or for hilly rides on the mountains instead, and get myself another frame to use as a SS/FG for summer rides along the beach, etc. dreams of his own Ricky Feather bike

I’ve been inspecting all the components and everything is French except the brake levers, which are Weinmann. I’m searching around for some French levers to complete the circle. Can anyone recommend a good brand? I’ve seen some on eBay but I’m not sure if they’re any good or not.
