Portobello Road, W11 end. I used to love passing there. Bit of an Orwell fan. Never got bored of having a look at that. Never noticed the camera though - I'm pretty sure it's no longer there.

I know it sounds stupid but I can't believe I'm looking at another planet when I'm seeing those.
+1
it's pretty mind boggling when you think of it

You can see Venus and Jupiter very, very clearly in the night skies of London right now. Even when there's no stars visible, these two are still brighter than the lights of passing planes.
As long as there's no clouds of course, just face south-west-ish in early evening. Easy to spot 'cos they're so close together.
Something nice to watch when having a smoke. -

That image is not a photo. its a computer render

Aww shit. Still good though?
-
• #3118
yeah, just post it in Computer Rendered Image of the Day
-
• #3119
My mistake. Although computer rendering is probably the only way with this?
-

Well someone posted the new high detail sonar scans the other day, which i presume is what provided the data for that render. it would be impossible to take that photo for real, because even if you could over come the logistics of getting enough lighting down there, the water visibility would be much too low.

^ from Alien? Looks Geiger-esque.
What fucks my mind up is thinking about a race in the future, millions of years after us, finding the rover and not know where it came from. Kind of like the monolith and the arc of the covenant or something.
