No xtr (which believe me i wanted and have) but tune cranks dont have the back of the arm drilled out to put a allen key through and tighten down pedal, so had to go with a shimano pedal that has uses pedal wrench

There is also a belief that XT pedals are better for shedding mud than XTR ones, which is why many cross riders use XT.
