No one who got down in the drops did any good because it gave you the wrong riding position (too cramped and too much weight over the front end). Wide risers are definitely for the win, much better for pulling the bike round the corners, so perhaps next time! Gearing is a big thing too..

Last year anypancake was doing warm up laps on the drops. He managed to stay super low down on the track the whole way. Think he stayed on the black line the whole time.

True, I saw that, but that technique takes a lot of practise, something that is in short supply on the day of the event. But yes, he was awesome on that run.

I knew risers were the way ahead, just didn't have enough hipster points to warrant a purchase. Next time...

Anna Glowinski rode in the drops all the time when she competed last year.
