  • I set my bike up for an event this coming sunday (70km ride, not a "race") that should be fast paced being on a closed freeway and almost guaranteed tailwind. Changed to 81gi instead of my usual 68gi. Long story short I was chasing the lads on tuesday night and now my right knee has developed a feeling/pain in the anterior area. (back of knee, not behind knee cap). It is noticable when walking although not painful, and i cruisily rode my geared tourer the 24km to work today spinning to win. Made it in ok without much discomfort but if I push it the pain appears.

I have pretty much given up all hope of keeping a fast pace and realise the best i can expect is to simply go the distance, if I can do it at all.

Am dropping gear ratio back down to either 68 or 72, will drop saddle a little and move forward a little too and see how that goes. Taking multi-vits/minerals and protein supplement.

Any suggestions for how to get some kind of recovery before Sunday?
