    Digital marketing/social media consultancy opportunity

Living Streets, the national charity working to create safe, attractive and enjoyable streets, is launching a new website in April 2012. The new site, built on Drupal, will allow users to register and interact, offering a direct home for our community and campaigning activity. The website will also bring in our other sites: www.walktoschool.org.uk and www.mylivingstreets.org.uk, our online tool for logging walking miles.

The new site will be launched in advance of May, throughout which Living Streets will be running a month long event, the Great British Walking Challenge, when we’ll be urging people to log their miles, steps or minutes walked on the Living Streets site to see how many miles we can collectively walk between Land’s End and John O’Groats. As part of the challenge we’ll also be running our successful annual initiative Walk to Work Week, when workplaces will be able to run their own walking challenges.

We’re advertising for a freelance digital marketing and social media consultant to help drive traffic to the new site and sign ups to the Great British Walking Challenge. The role will also involve updating our social media strategy to ensure we’re using our channels effectively and developing effective benchmarks to measure impact, including setting up goals and funnels through Google Analytics.

We’re looking for a consultant for approximately 15 days throughout March/April 2012 at £200/day. The role will be primarily based at our London office on Wentworth Street, E1, though some remote work may be possible. We anticipate the role beginning in the last week of March 2012.

The consultant will be required to:

    • Review and update Living Streets’ social media strategy, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure its effectiveness and advising on adoption of relevant social media techniques into the charity’s culture

      • Plan and deliver a social media campaign to drive traffic to the organisation’s new website and drive sign ups to a month-long event in May, the Great British Walking Challenge.

      • Raise Living Streets’ profile by developing its presence on social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter, and other similar community sites.

      • Develop effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of its social media use, and analyse, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximise results

      • Advise on and set up Google Analytics tracking, including goals and funnels, and provide informal training to the marketing and communications team on effective use of these tools

    Requirements:

    * Strong project management or organisational skills

    * In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios

    * Experience of working with the charity sector is desirable, including delivery of high profile campaigns and events

    * Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships

    * Experience of working with Google Analytics and Adwords

    * Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools quickly

    * Good knowledge of principles of SEO

    * Experience of marketing, PR and community management

    * Experience of working with Engaging Networks software is desirable.
