It was Les that was on my back! No damage though and I think ending up on my back might have been the best result (as opposed to on my face or something) so maybe it was a valiant act of loyalty towards a new master...
I forgot about my finger and spent all day doing things that involve a firm grip and strenuous hand activity (not a euph). Didn't want to go to a&e for a little thing, especially not on Friday or Saturday when it's probably full of vomit choking drunks and stab victims and stuff but I guess if it's still sticking out tomorrow I should do something.
It doesn't look like a break - you would already know if it was. Paracetamol and immersion in cold water until any swelling goes is probably best, then off to the doctors - they'll be able to see if there's any damage far easier when the finger is the normal size again.
Hope it's feeling ok anyway

The moment when I realised the guy who was overtaking me was swerving in front of me and was definitely going to take out my front wheel at speed. I think he indicated after he hit me at least.
Then a double oh shit because of the frame I was carrying across my back on my messenger bag and which I was now lying on top of; firstly and most importantly oh shit I wonder if the frame is OK, then oh shit I can't get up for a minute with this strapped to me, is the next car going to stop in time or will it just kill me?
Also as I'm pretty retarded when it comes to injuries someone tell me if I should do/not do anything to my finger (picture)? I can move it but it hurts and it's pointing off to the side a bit.
it could be dislocated or broken. not much to be done in either case, but if dislocated should be set back in socket. you will get laughing gas if you are lucky.

Did the driver stop?
In other words, has this been resolved yet?
-

The driver didn't even slow down, a guy offered me his details as witness but neither of us got anything about the car except the colour (grey) and there weren't any cameras around so I thanked him but said not to worry about it.
Thanks for finger advice everybody

Sunday morning, quiet ride around Regents park to loosen up some aching legs and had a double "oh shit" in the space of 2 seconds.
Riding clockwise coming up to Ave Rd and a white BMW decides to turn right with no consideration for me being, well, right there! Even heard someone shreik in anticipation of a crash - luckily I was not absolutely flying and was hovering over the the brakes (good habit I guess) so could slow and avoid going over the bonnet. The scary thing is that that there was eye contact with the driver and they had zero recognition in their eyes - like I didn't exist. Of course they sped off.
Then a fraction after that (already slowed to walking pace by now) another dark blue BMW decides to turn left in front of me, again right into my path. This time there was slight contact - me braking hard and fading right to avoid but I still clipped the front end. Alll the time shouting "Oi" - all I could muster in the short space of time. The driver stopped, looked shocked then drove off!
Some dude in blue and yellow must have seen this as next lap he asked if I was OK (thanks!)
I was OK and kept riding, just took a lap to let the rage cool. Keeps you on your toes these moments. -

Riding in a tram line when both of trams came, then I could fit in the middle but I think I pissed myself!

I think any BMW/Merc dealership should be legally obliged to do an assessment of the level of retardedness of anyone wanting to buy one of their vehicles. Of all private car types, it's these two that seem to be driven predominantly by total douchebags.

Yep. Toyota people carrier things with blue badge of death and BMWs every frikkin time.

Had a Merc do the same to me on Oxford St. / Tottenham Ct Rd junction the other morning actually.
So concerned was he that the scooter ahead would slow him down, he veered right and nearly pushed me into the railings. I hammered my fist into his door to show my joyful appreciation.
Not so much 'oh shit!' as, 'you shit!' -

For a bump - I just sat on my saddle after adjusting height and forgot that I hadn't tightened up the seatpost clamp. I must be the only person to have fallen off their bike in their own bedroom... and I also scratched my Campagnolo seatpost all the way along.

With me it seems to be women in shiny new Mini's. Had one pull out of her house in front of me, and one pull up alongside me at a T junction - I was turning right, I thought she was turning left. Wrong!

Mini drivers do seem a bit special, but my impression may be just from the foxtons factor. However, dont recall the old breed of minis being driven like the current ones. I suppose the new ones are nippier.

Many oh shit moments on my way in today. Took my old route, down from Dalston to Smithfields via HSR, then Farringdon to Blackfriars and West on Embankment, then to Victoria.
Literally so many muppets riding today. One cyclist pulled out to overtake another within the cycle lane, didn't shoulder check, I had to drop 30kph in about 2m to avoid taking him (and her) out. If you're on here, look over your f*cking shoulder or you will be killed by something!!

I've just passed my motorcycle test, having spent six days with an instructor shouting at me about safety, and now all I can see on the road is that everyone is suicidal/homicidal. I really, really think people should have to take a driving test every five years, just to weed out the crazies/incompetent.

Old minis were driven by people that understood what a bargain they were, paying small potatoes for a fantastic little car.
Not always, on Saturday I got shouted out that I should get off the road by some hoodlum in an old mini.

New minis are driven by assholes prepared to pay a small fortune for an overhyped crappy little car.

New Minis are BMWs.
Old Minis were the shit. You could buy and insure them for pennies, take them apart on the kitchen table to fix them when anything went wrong, and they handled like a go-kart.
I loved my Mini, drove like an arsehole all the time, and never owned another car since it finally died on me years ago.

Alternatively: If you're going 20mph faster than someone, give them plenty of room on the off chance they do something unexpected.

No alternative needed, both should happen. But as this bloke managed to brake fast enough to not hit the inattentive nodder, it sounds like he was doing OK.

I've run the numbers and there is a bit of exaggeration going on here.

No it doesn't, it sounds like he was fortunate to avoid a potentially nasty accident. What if they'd pulled out half a second later?I agree that people shouldn't pull out without shoulder checking, much like people shouldn't open car doors without making sure nothing's coming and pedestrians shouldn't step of kerbs without looking. I'd rather avoid dealing with the consequences of them not doing.

How many g was it?
It was, a few years back.
