8spd mechs have coarser thread, some early 9 too, rest of 9/10/11 same fine thread on adjuster.
Shimano spacers won't fit Campag freehubs, the latter is slightly bigger diameter.
Spacers are different widths for each of 8, 9, 10 and 11 spd. 10/11 spd also have different width spacers with the same cassette (one thinner one near the middle of cluster). All of them are manufactured to tolerances of fractions of mm esp. 9/10/11.
