Id like to get rid of the axle in the middle. why not have just two bearings left n right mounted to the fork. all you need is something to maintain the space between the bearings which could be a thin bar, 3-4 mm ss. must be aerodynamic. And more important relieve the bearings form stress!!
Also get rid of the spoke flanges, they is causing lots of drag too. Lets have the spokes come out of an axial hole in stead of a flange. I will post a picture of a mock-up I made recently for the spoke. (im not at home now)
