The buses ended up being emptied and they started to turn them around and take them back east after about an hour.
Buses trying to do a 3 point turn on Oxford Street was a bit of a joke and the peds walking along completely oblivious to the giant vehicle backing up onto the pavement was rather scary. The guys who were helping the drivers with their manouvres were getting quite irate at people's indifference as they shuffled past at hometime.
