Many means the majority, right? And because of this you can spout off?
EDIT: I find the trainers thread extremely distasteful. I can only think of the poor children in sweatshops in Banglamashtan and other places with difficult names. Poor they are with big and beautiful brown eyes, and exploited by fat imperialistic (Tory) filth!
Still I have the strength to not go off and rant in the said thread.
You don't seem to have the strength to have a reasoned discussion on this thread tho
:^]
No. Many does not mean majority.
please be as kind as to direct me to my vitriolic, lefty-scum rantings and spouting off posts on this thread as I seem to have misplaced them…
I have merely stated that where others view jet fighters as paragons of technology and engineering beauty, divorced on the whole from the consequences of their implementation that I struggle to make that disconnect

I consider posting the pics of dead people as spouting off and not being able to leave the thread alone even though it irks you.
I might be the only one thinking this way, but I doubt it.

Eventually, the glossy pics of girls on bikes thread closed. One can only hope this goes the same way.

There are many people, who've been here a long time and, stealing words from one of these from a previous thread, have helped shape this place and given it the feel that originally attracted many people here.
I'm sure there are a lot more people who find this disasteful but are ignoring it. Because they're ignoring it does not mean that there are less people who think it is distasteful. Or that you should take that as an endorsement to continue.

Why do you feel the need to categorise an opposing view to yours as 'spouting off'?
[genuine question, not pot stirring]
On a public forum, populated by users with vastly varying viewpoints are you suggesting that alternative views on a topic should not be expressed?

Also: I am not Tynan. Nor am I doing this for egotistical reasons.

you are deffo lefty scum tho…

I find it hard to believe you really think of posting the pics to be an expression of a varying viewpoint and not intentional shit stirring.
And it is the intentional shit stirring I find so annoying. But, really, man, I find it even more insulting you group the ones posting pics of the planes with warmongers. I really, really hate that.

you are making some huge assumptions there gaffer
Yup, I fucking hate the noise of chinooks and jet fighters and I am old enough and ugly enough to remember friends and relatives coming back from the Falklands and my association with military aircraft is pretty rooted in that - the posting of those pics is a reflection of my personal and visceral experience of military aircraft.
You are the one stating that I am making a connection with pic posters and warmongers - I don't believe that I have said that, I have merely shown my personal outlook on the OP
[genuine response, interested debate, not shit stirring etc]

To be honest, Wayne, I found the James's "Knives" thread far more out of place - especially when out there children stab each other on a daily basis.
Sure, you use them when camping or cooking, but most of those posted knives were hunting ones or simply used to assault other human beings. -

Would you say you have gone about it in the right way?

if only all the anger and vitriol from the two pages above could be put to something useful for example ...
ending world poverty / stopping cruelty to animals rather than just telling off someone for starting a thread on a community based website
i think perspective needs to be regained here
it's just a thread on aireoplanes nobody has murdered your wife / husband / child / fave pet / nobody has stolen your bike or cut one of your arms off
god if you get angry at someone posting a picture of a plane just imagine what would happen if someone really offended you ... you could end up doing timeand all the, i don't think you should be starting a thread on planes ( or whatever variety ) ..... if it were your website that you had started and you had control over then yes feel free to close the thread but as it's not your website you really don't have any say
when i meet fellow forumengers down the pub i don't talk 100% of the time about bikes i have a wide and varied range of interests i have the capability to talk not only about bike but also the weather the condition of the roads the recent TV programme discussing black holes, and cake
suck it up put thread on ignore and stop being a fascist about what other people can and can't post
you don't own the internet and sadly you never willgo and get irrate at something that actually matters and make a difference you keyboard warriors

You said: "Go to any air show and it's self evident that many of the geeks there think it's a bloody great idea to strafe a shit load of arabs and I don't make any assumptions that the case would be any different on a forum this size."
I consider it making a connection.
I have to add that even though I am old enough to remember the Falklands, being a Finn means I have had no one close to me suffer because of that war. And I can understand military aircraft carry more meaning to you because of it. Still I think it was unnecessarily provocative of you to post the pics.

This one (above) just looks so great,
reminded me of this (below) but now in retrospect I don't know why, doesn't look that similar..Both are record breakers. ;o)
The Hughes was of particular relevance to this thread as the last 'non military' world speed record holder.
