  • ^ similarly I have been convincing Reen to have a BBQ when the weather gets better. Cos it's summer now innit.

  • tame one but good to see folk. seems like ages since i last saw spybot or hatbeard for more than a hello/goodbye.

fox - when the weather gets proper warm we must have a bbq in this garden of yours. it looks quite spacious in the plans.

Good to see you guys tonight - been absolutely ages since I last stopped for the duration (albeit just 6-9ish tonight).
Made it up round the top of Hampstead heath for pizza in the end... why or how is yet to be decided but the result was the same: yet another great night at both pubs :)

  • I rolled up to see Rowhan getting ready to set off. missed you Fox!
    next time...

:( Was sorry to see the disappoint on your face... you missed the last 3 of us by minutes. Next time hey! (should be warm enough for t-shirts and beers outside etc. by next week anyway) hehe

    good man

i've never bothered to do SE's and Norths on same day except for in grand slam

  • Norfs was busy... I have a mild hangover now... so much for my not drinking and getting in shape!

Come out for a few weekend rides (proper rides, not forum 'rides';) )

Unsure wether to nerg for poaching... Or rep for recruiting! ;D

I'm majorly unfit, I plan to try a short 25miler on Saturday if my date falls through. Then another the next day. There's no way I could do 50 at any reasonable pace.

Bet you could do 25k slightly uphill to an amazing pub, followed by 25k downhill after a pint ;)

    what route is that ?

  • Wombledon > Epsom > Box Hill (from the east) > return. Pretty tame

  • Hmm looks nice, I'm actually out E14, so that would add a bit more. You doing that this weekend?

    problemkirth'sknees?

  • hah, well I've never seen it and the fact that it's the other side of london means I'll probably not bother.

Might ride out east and see what Kent looks like these days

  • Box Hill is fine. Really. It's easy. Honestly.

  • Ok, let the fat out of shape cyclists speak.... not you whippets!

  • Look you soppy bunch of tarts... It's this route http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/71302356
Or at least just the first 23.5 km just before box hill.

Slow ride from E14 to SW19 is 17km(?) each way, so maybe 2hrs ride put in total, with about 500ft climbing, 1hr in a great beer garden on a hill overlooking surrey, then 1hr 40 ish downhill on the way back.

It's a pleasant route for the 2nd half of the way out

  • I'll set up a ride.....

Maybe via leatherhead then back up Portsmouth road from Cobham to lingston.
You interested Si, Rich, anyone else? Know the route backwards with my eyes closed.

  • Know the route backwards with my eyes closed.

So that's why you ride like that. I did wonder.

  • ^haha

    ^^yeah, date depending sounds great

  • date depending sounds great

Think I've got the route sorted (stops etc.). [ame]http://ridewithgps.com/routes/968416[/ame
    [/ame]

Beer/toilet stops at 16 and 39miles in, Snack stop at 24miles, and a final well-earned beer on top of Richmond hill with (hopefully) a nice bit of sun on our faces.

Take the first 20 steady, fly through the next 10 or so to Leatherhead, then pootle along and enjoy the surroundings for the remainder of the ride.

I will start a thread for this later but until then - anyone around Saturday after next?

  • Here we are - full thread & tweaked route including 3 pubs and a ton of countryside
