I'm in a my final year of PDE at Brunel, I doubt you'll find a room on here as Uxbridge is the place where dreams come to die and most people have the sensibility not to subject themselves to its squalor. If you're set on not living in halls your best bet is to go to the university accommodation office, students advertise spare rooms in houses there (normally when one fo their friends drops out last minute).
I recommend you reconsider going in to halls though, yes they suck and there's loads of bullshit attached to them but they also have a lot of benefits for a level 1 student. Good luck either way though.

cheers for the advice chaps, I'll keep my ear to the ground but halls would be the easy option... hmm.
It's looking like I'll be studying at Brunel in uxbridge come september, and living in halls is quite a depressing prospect - a week spent in hospital was enough to give me a phobia of formica and green lino that will stay with me for a long time. I'm going to be studying product design, which I'm going on to following an engineering course in cornwall.
To hell with flowing prose, here's some super snappy bullet points:
I want to spend as little as possible, but I guess the most I could stretch to would £120/week with bills.
The closer to Uxbridge the better, but it's not too crucial.
Bike parking off the road would be a bonus.
Why you want me:
I am very difficult to piss off.
I am quite small.
I fix everything - nothing will be broken in any house I live in. Kitchen knives sharp, computers virus free and chains lubricated. I'm a bit compulsive.
I like to cook for people.
I am happy to be vegetarian, but I'm not offended by meat and will probably join in if it's about.
I can bring as much stuff as required in terms of furniture, crockery or whatever.
I don't smoke but I don't mind smokers.
I'll bring genuine authentic Cornish authenticity (highly sought after).
Why you don't want me:
Whatever I promise, I'll end up building bikes on the floor.
I can be a bit untidy.
If you'll have a room to rent and I sound like your kind of grotty student, email me at alf_munden @ gmail_com (i've replaced . with _ just in case) or just PM me.
Cheers, alfie.
