  • Fancy knocking summat up/ bashing summat out /boshin one off as they say?...

I'm pretty certain I'll be bashing one out before the weekend
However, my main computer is broken right now(with all my main design software) and I have no colour printing facilities at the moment either. I'll gladly help, but I've got a feeling this might be better taken on by someone else...

I'd be happy to make some trophies if needs be...

    Nice one, Oliver

is the last item on list a little joke..?

Kinda, but not really. It would be useful to say that we've done a risk assessment when talking to the Council. Makes us look more serious, etc. Main reason for doing it though, is because we don't have any liability insurance (too costly). If there's an accident and someone decides to sue us, it'll be important to show that we've done what could be reasonably expected of us, in terms of evaluating potential risks. It can be something as simple as a note scribbled on the back of a fag packet and we don't actually need to do anything about any perceived risks, but if we've done a risk assessment, we're 'covering our arses with paperwork', as they say....

    Either way, I'll do it.

Stuff which still needs thinking about:

    • A small amount of sponsorship could be made to go a long way. It would be nice to be able to offer something to our visiting teams (Refreshments, goody bag, etc) without having to charge a Tourney entry fee. Also, we might need some petty cash if we wanna make new goals! I appreciate that it's short notice, but could someone look into this?

    • Sketch map of the location of the Tourney, with surrounding useful places - shop, toilet, pub, practice court, etc. Direction to the court for out-of-towners would be handy. Anyone with reasonable familiarity with the area could do this.

    • Timber or similar for filling gaps in the fence

    • Format/bracket printouts. At this stage we don't know how many teams we'll have, so I'd probably print several bracket options (4, 5, 6, etc) Don't suppose we'll get more than 6 visiting teams, TBH. That should cover all eventualities. I'm guessing we're gonna use a double elim or single elim format. Double would give teams more games, yes? Printable brackets can be found here. Could someone take this on? If someone else can do the design work on the poster/banner/spokecards, etc, then I can do this one.

    • Shelter. I've got a small gazebo which could be put up courtside as a shelter for organizers, refs, scorers and for waiting players if the weather's a bit iffy. Happy to receive better suggestions, though.

    • Bins could be a coupla bin-bags, cable-tied to the fence. We don't want anyone to say we left a mess. I think this sounds like a job for an environmental activist like Luke ;)

    • Goals. I'll happily make some more goals/improve the goals we've got. It seems I've already got quite a lot on, though, so it would be helpful if someone else could take this on. At the very least, we need nets making and fitting, maybe crossbars, and weights(sandbags) to hold goals down. Any takers? Again, If someone else can do the design work on the poster/banner/spokecards, etc, then I'll do this one.

    • Refs will need timing device (Phone seems the easiest) and a whistle/buzzer/other noisemaker. Scoreboard? Is Steve's electronic scoreboard an option?

    Have I missed anything?
    Am I doing it right?
