just done exactly the same with 2 mm spacer - now it works - i guess the front mech hanger on the frame was designed for front mech / BB & chainset combo with a different chainline
edit: bollocks, no it doesnt -it sts nicely on the small ring but doesn't have the reach to move chain onto big ring.
