There's quite a few BSA cottered cranks/sets on eBay the now, ranging from £6.99 for a pretty ratty old driveside only to £40 for a minty chrome set. Even at £40 I imagine that'll be less than you'd pay for any kind of welding/retapping/helicoiling type job.
