  • Interested in the front brake setup, if it'll fit my Specialized Langster front fork. (posted)

What measurement would you need to ensure it'll fit? Bolt hole to tyre enough or?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • hi matt,
well the brake caliper is standard 39-49mm short drop so check the bolt hole to center of the breaking surface of the rim and if it is in between 39 and 49 it's bingo.
    hope this helps
    cheers

  • Hi
If Baines93/Matt doesnt take the front brake setup, I will.

    Cheers

    Darren

  • Ahhh, guessed so, and measured that earlier... about 45mm, so should be fine.

My bars are cut down, and quite narrow, with quite a rise...

    Like these but narrower.

The dead flat bit on each side is only 85-90mm. Would you just mount the lever on the flat part, and use a shorter grip on the right hand side of the bar? Only thought is that with the rise, the cable may be too short? (after grips too, wouldn't happen to have any would you?)

Just got my first FG bike, and it's brakeless, and a bit daunting/difficult, so need a failsafe brake ASAP! :P

    Thanks,

    Matt.

  • i would just clamp the brake lever on the sloping part of the bars as the brake lever has quite a bend....it's should be perfectly fine.

    darren,
noted but as i said money talks and i always prefer collection so first come first served

  • I'd need you to post them mate, I'm in Belfast. I can send the money over paypal upfront, no problem.

  • Thanks. Seems ideal... Get me sorted quickly so I can get riding! I'm only in Oxford too.

I'll take now, if you're happy to post... Paypal gift okay?

  • DIBS Sirius fork

  • brake lever/brake caliper combo sold

  • I gotta be quicker next time!
I'm in the same boat as Matt, my first fixie (Fuji Classic Track), have been out riding but would be more confident with a front brake.
    Cheers!

Sorry Darren, pipped you to the post! There seems to be lots of brakes popping up on here, so just keep an eye out. I'm struggling, can't wait for the brake to arrive. Due to a recurring sporting injury (knee unfortunately) a few years ago, and thus a lot of time inactive I have pretty weak legs, and I am finding a quick stop incredibly strenuous and achey on the knees (admittedly after practising hard stop after hard stop) let alone a skid stop, which I can't seem to physically even do... Guess it's either my legs/technique!

  • brake and lever sent today first class recorded matt.
let me know when you get it
    cheers
    chris

  • front tricolor sold but rear is still going.

  • Thanks Chris! - will do! :)

  • Arrived today! Way quicker than expected! Was thinking Monday!

Anyway, only mocked up so far, but looks to be good.

    Cheers! Matt.
