I recently moved onto Ultrega SL from SPD-r and I am finding them more than adequate. I am yet to use them on the track yet but the hold me in nice and tight on climbs. Even at a low binding. I did find however they took a lot of cleat adjustment to get exactly right. I was experiencing knee pain for teh first few days, tiny tweaks here and there and now they are perfect
