  • Do you have an email address for them? Tried and failed with a quick google...

  • ^ cycletaskforce@met.police.uk

I emailed them this morning about my bike but have so far not had a response. Does anyone know if they're usually quick to respond?

  • CTF contact details in the first post here:

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread52193.html

They can't respond individually to everything, but they will certainly get in touch with you if they recover your bike. Make sure to make a police report and send the CTF details separately, including a good picture. They're all bike nerds and can remember details of unusual bikes, so that they can act quickly if they see it on the street or in an on-line advert.

  • Today my sister's bike was stolen from outside her studio while she was working in Gillet Square, Dalston between 4 and 7pm.

I've asked her to see if she can find a picture of it but she is still trying to find one.

    This is quoted from her facebook;

"Today somebody stole my bicycle :( Please can everyone look out for a white Raleigh racing bike, 512 frame, black tyres, baby pink handle-bars. If you look closely there are some turquoise bolts on the chainring and purple wheel nuts on the back axle. It was my Dad's bike and customised with help of various friends. I loved it and I am really sad :( If you see it please let me know so I can call the police and go and get it!!! xx"

It's a single speed conversion and was our Dad's that he had since the 70's.

If anyone spots anything please let me know by PM

    Thanks

Edit: she managed to find this pic

  • OK, I'm done with this thread. Too frustrating/sad to keep reading all these stories about scum stealing bikes.

Was it on the street or on one of the open walkways of the HCD building?

  • I'm not sure Oliver, I've never been there myself. I'll have to ask her tomorrow, she's probably asleep.

  • coppiThat reports in that the Koga attached he's seen in a local market and he suspects it's stolen.

For more info (if you know the bike and want to find out where it is) PM coppiThat.

  • apologies if it's already been posted somewhere; just seen this ad on e-bay... either the guy is taking the piss or the bike is stolen. Hope someone recognises it:

  • it's still got a lock on it!!!

  • Was this asked by someone on here:

Q: Hi there, is the lock included? if so do you have the key?
A: No the lock isn't included, but I do have the key and this will be removed on sale of the bike

A: No the lock isn't included, and no I don't have the key, I have a saw and the lock will be removed on sale of the bike

    Fixed

  • A mate's mountain bike was stolen from his car which was locked in our "secure" underground parking in Liverpool this weekend. Long shot but If anybody spots it on ebay/gumtree or anything, could you please let me know.

It's apparently a Trek Fuel ex5 in blue and white, with a fox rear shock, roxshox forks, Bontrager wheels and Conti tyres. Apparently has a clear plastic TT protector on too.

    Thanks a million.

  • i am amazed that nobody is missing the koga. i felt physically sick as soon as i saw it. the seller wanted £150 and knew nothing about bicycles :-(

  • you could post it on moving target maybe

  • that's not funny. Of course the thief sold it for less than it cost new - that destruction of value is just one more way that theft is bad.

  • Ok my other bike, a Hybrid/ Kona Dew Deluxe 2010, was stolen at the end of January this year, the bike was registered and has been reported to the police. Basically it was in a 'secure' underground car park within a special caged area for bikes but some toerag managed to gain entry to the block, his mug was caught on numerous CCTV cameras (no mask, not even a baseball cap!) and he was able to take his time busting two locks. It has a 'White Zombie' sticker on the front but no other distinguishing features.

Why am I posting all this? well if any of you lovely people see it out on the road please take the person riding it and kick their teeth in, Cheers.

Needless to say I have invested in an additional motorbike chain style lock to secure my remaining bike while it is in the 'Secure' Underground car park underneath my block.

  • Whilst I believe thiefs are pure scum, I'd seriously recommend not kicking someones teeth in because their riding your bike. What if they bought it from gumtree/ebay etc totally unaware that it was stolen?

Ebay & gumtree have been monitored heavily by both the police officer overseeing my case and of course myself, tbh I suspect it was sold on the street if at all...in which case anyone buying a bike off the street should know better. If someone willingly buys goods that have a high probability of being dogy, non-kosher, etc, etc then I have no sympathy. That said kicking someones teeth in is a bit harsh and I apologize for saying that, I am just still pissed about the whole situation.
