@ WilliamJohn what the above said but more harsh. to me they look ridiculous. I had a black and white 'fixie' using similar cheap parts once, it looked stupid and fell apart within a few months. the paint will chip and get covered in muck and oil within a week. They're the kind of wheels you get on a £200 create. the spokes wont be tensioned, locknuts will be too tight or too loose and they'll weigh 3kg.
Go with them if you want, they're wheels and they spin, but in the future you'll probably prefer performance and style over looks.
on one track hubs £15 each, white aerorage rims £25 each (HH had one on sale for £20), black spokes £20.
if no one on the forum has some, pro lite sardinia, genetic tibia, and the andel branded version are probably best for the money, about £50

if you want mega cheap planet x are selling some sun rims at £10 to go with the £15 hubs, they're boring looking but look reasonably tough, not deep section though

Or from planet x Rigida rims are £20 I've had mine for 4 years and haven't fucked them up yet.

Any reason you don't want silver? I've still got those wheels in the last page for sale (if Adam doesn't want them). Cheap and a bit of a v.

Andy, he's welcome to them.
Will, Those white ones look foul IMHO. Get Andys: £25, for 36h wheels, bargain....!! add £7 and get some smooth hammerite and make them the colour you want....!

Or just not get wheels and have the lower classes carry you around while you sit on a saddle.
It's what I do.

Thinking about it, you guys are most probably right, those wheels you've got look pretty tasty Andy, what's the spacing on the rear hub/width of rim, did however get an offer when I asked on classified for a wheel with a Velocity triple butted rim for about £50, but the silver wheels are probably best bet?
He did however have a nice crankset http://www.lfgss.com/thread80716.html, the token one, worth getting you reckon, looks decent enough.
Other 'n that, I think with Andy's wheels, the token crankset and a powder coat, the frame should be ready for the Easter alleycat and I can stick to a nice silver/black/red colour scheme so it don't look ugly as sin!
Sound like a plan?

I've got a 165mm BLB tra ck crankset in black, one of these:
Its had about 6months light use, in good condition but needs a damn good degrease and the chainring bolts tightening, possibly thread-locking, they seemed prone to coming loose..Think i paid £75... yours for £35?

The rim width is between 13-14mm, don't have anything super accurate to measure with they also have quite a hook on them (compared with the rims on my steamroller) and should hold anything up to 35s pretty easily.
Rear spacing is 120mm

the Easter alleycat
Where and when... and who is organising?!
-
• #3412
Aye, I think I'll take Andy and Russ up on their respective offers, by the bye, does anyone know the name of a powder coater that can sandblast nearby?
Also, the alleycat thing is polo related, Emmarose mentioned it to me, if you want some details, she'd be best to ask.
