  • I used to drink Red Stripe and thought it was nice but it really isn't. It's utter cack.

These days it's polish beer if I'm on the lash.

  • My gripe with Polish beer in tins is that it's not the same anymore - yes, it's bitter and thirst quenching, but also very watery. I prefer bottled Zywiec or if it's on tap.
EB used to be good (Polish/Aussie thing).

Zack Snyder's commercial for EB beer: "General's Party" - YouTube

  • bottled Zywiec

    Lech is also rather good.

Both also seem to send me a little crazy. Don't really drink beer any more.

  • I drink it.

So what? You won't eat Haddock!

  • It's been the only beer at Bristol jungle nights since forever.

It tastes good with herbal supplementation.

    What's not to like.

This reminds me of the wierd alcy cousin of Stripe, only available for a few years, called Crucial Brew. It was exactly the same design can, but black instead of white, in small cans that barley wines commonly came in. It was about 8%, an early precursor to the Super T era.

It's called VB, you spunk jet...

  • oh shit I've been here before... time to log out...

    Does anyone remember 'Crucial Brew'?

It looked like red stripe, but black and red instead of white and red (no doubt, like red stripe, brewed in Luton under license from DG) and it was a small can, a la Gold Label or Mackeson etc. Funnily enough was rather like a mix of those two - I think it was 9%, basically a malt liquor.

Two of them down the rec with some paki black spliffs. It was 'crucial'. Aaah.

Consistency is a virtue. Never let people spoil the blessings of age for you. :)

Me and my mates all drank Crucial Bru in the yard BITD, not as sweet as Super T but much nicer than Special Brew...

  • I've probably said this before, too, but again: Beer in tins is a crime, no more and no less. Beer belongs in glasses, bottles, and barrels, but not in tins.

  • I remember Crucial Brew as well - remember it being super sticky if you split it

  • Here's one beer I'm completely obsessed with... Brasserie St Sylvestre's '3 Monts' ... funnily enough my mrs has just been moaning at me about my beery farts... I really need to give up beer :(

  • God I'm doing a Homer 'beeeer' drool just looking that picture...

  • I thought Red Stripe was student beer as they couldn't afford anything else.

Tyskie is nice, Zywiec is nicer. Never seen either on tap though. A shop on Hammersmith road used to do them both cheap

  • A mate used to take me to a little Polish bar in the alley behind Holborn tube station* BITD, is it still there? Loads of Polish beer in bottles in big fridges, used to be cheap as chips... Odd little place...

    • Not a euph, OK?
  • I had some of this last time I was in Leeds- not seen it anywhere else, anyone spotted it in London?

  • I've never seen Jupiler sold in the UK. Tasty stuff though

  • There's a pub on Broadway Market that has Jupiler. I'll see if I can find what it's called again.

  • The Dove.

  • Beat you Schicky!

  • Sorry- should have said, that one is alcohol free, hence the rarity.

Just be nice to be able to walk into a pub and order one.

used to drink that daily, and play guitar with a few jazz fags for about 12 years

  • @TS
I know that alley!* Not the bar mind.

    *not a euph'.

  • Red Stripe has always been the ultimate hipster beer of choice I thought.

K cider for the non-beer drinkers.

  • I was knocking back PBR again last night.
Although Camden Brewery pale ale is my fave.
