Thanks! The forks are actually in my office right now so can't double check, but I couldn't actually see any particular markings on them so I'm afraid I don't know the make...not sure if they're the original viner ones or not.
As for the stars, I'd also wondered the same when I bought it - did a bit of research and found this:
