Totes maze build... This is a bit anal, but is there any way of refinishing the braking surface at the back if it's not going to be braked on?

^^A friend at work had a Mercian made for them, it's a lovely frame and sounded like an all round excellent experience. If I could see beyond Roberts then I'd look to Mercian, but I'm a southerner, so you know ;)
^yeah, kinda bugs me too. Obviously remedied if I switched rims, or bought a new one. Im not sure why, but the person I bought them off had them rebuilt that way. I would swap them without hesitation if they weren't so nicely built (certainly better than i could do) Might get them rebuilt when I can afford it, as I'll probably be braking on the front, which seems a bit of a waste.
Also, I'll stick other wheels on there until the weather improves, just wanted to have the maiden voyage on the Mack hubs. -

Love everything except the forks. I have just never been a fan of those

Not sure of the weight, but like yours it's definitely "liteshit"^
I don't mind the forks, but might be trying the Wound Ups on there soon. Would love some Enve, but that's serious money and not seen a pair second hand, yet!Cheers for the nice comments guys. A bit of tinkering to make it a more road/distance suitable and added different drops, levers, and a less precious wheelset.

Love the look of that now. Two levers on drops is how I have my long distance fixed set up. I only have one lever connected to the brake though. Is that a problem solver? How do you find it?
-
• #39
It's the J-Tech 2:1 "S" (the shorter) version. The Problem Solver looked quite bulky in comparison, so this is a nice and neat solution, for me anyway and seems to work very well. I know there's ways of doctoring the levers (think upstart did a stirling job) to stop any annoying rattling. I would've gone down that route, but being able to brake with either lever is handy, particularly when signalling on descents in traffic. I'll be riding it in this guise mainly, so it was worth the investment to find a long term, solid and aesthetically non-offensive solution.

Cool, will look into it.

Cheers to theCrane for getting the Frame made and to Flickwg for being too tall for it :)

i managed to get it down to 7.6kg, but with the mack wheels im sure it will be lighter. i had goldtec/xt on the same rims.

Looks brilliant! Prefer the road setup.
What bars are they? -

haha everyone has told me that after i did it, the rims were originally the other way round but i swapped them when i rebuilt them with silver spokes. i was under the impression the person who might buy them from me would most likely use a brake and therefore once used for a bit the rims would look the same. ha! ive often over thought things to the extent i make the wrong decision. sorry dude. post them back to me and ill rebuild them for you if you want?

Very kind of you, did you build them? They sure were sweet. I decided to use the rims to rebuild my over-worn road wheels. Still contemplating which rims to re-build the Macks to, hb14's, omega v's, excellence, or just the good ol' open pro CDs. When I do decide, I would definitely consider paying you for the build though, if you were up for it.those mack wheels used to be mine too, shame i never had them when i owned that frame
Yes they were, and the chain. I'm your no.1 fan ;)

What bars are they? They are Easton ea70 alloy jobbies I had kickin around. I have some ec90 equipes which came up cheap which I may use if they're not too narrow.

ye they we the 2nd pair of wheels i ever built, fortunately i had a proper mechanic check them before they were finished or they wouldn't have come out that nice. yeah happy to do wheel build work just email/message me. i totally forgot about the chain too haha, practically a 2nd gen crane bike

Excellent work, I will be in touch then. Cheers!

Only phone pics, but here's a recent stem addition. I just need to save up for some spacers and cap!
I liked the look of the Black X2 Stem, but this rides so much nicer and the Moots is a thing of beauty itself.
Few more finishing parts to get and still undecided about rims for my Mack Hub rebuild, but have a couple more additions in the pipeline, and will sort out some proper pics when possible.

cheers...and stupidly* i've been thinking about how nice your Aero sug's would look on it
*not rich enough for such thoughts
Get a Mercian. You won't regret it. Paintwork alone is worth the extra. Lovely chaps too, and an expert measuring service.
