I ride a 71 inch fixed every where here in Plymouth. I often do rides with YOGI cycle club 40-60milers and never get left behind, always spend my time at the front of the pack. Fixed in Plymouth is great fun, theres just not many of us around. I'd like to ride with other fixies instead of the club rides all the time (though they do keep me fit). PM me if your around for a ride one weekend (even if its just a tour of coffee shops).

I moved down to Plymouth in October and used to ride single-speed MTB up in Birmingham. I have an old road/tourer that I'd like to convert to single-speed for commuting etc. but need a bit of advice as to how to go about it.
The bike has a screw on 6 speed freewheel at the moment and was thinking of just swapping that for a single-speed freewheel but I'm a bit unsure whether this will work regarding getting good chainline.
Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers. -

Lived in Plymouth for 2 1/2 years and not seen any fixies till I saw 2 this week. Was going to convent mine as I have not ridden it since I left London, but I am minded to give it a go next week. Don't fancy my chances much on some of th South Hams hills I have to cross...

A new convert... soon- cogs are dishing a back wheel to sort out chainline issues I caused by being a muppet and buying random track wheels to convert my old BIanchi hybrid frame. Ho humm every day is a school day.
Cogs have been cool helping my piece together my first bike build and my first fixie! Defo up for rides and a little here community too. Polo maybe? there's lots of gas pipe lying about on the hoe where they are digging at the moment.
I'm planning a ride up to burrator on the 13th too- hopefully I will have enough bits to make the Bianchi go by then if anyone wants to join me....

Just about to sort out a fixed wheel and then out on the road hopefully in the next month. Been a long time since I rode a fixie!! As they say like learning to ride a bike! Anyway once I'm comfortable would be good to meet up for a ride. I ride a Road bike at the moment round Dvon and Cornwall so should be interesting to see how I go with a fixie..be in touch..

Wow, just found this thread! I'm from Plymouth and always take my bike back with me when I head home to see the folks for Chrimbo/Easter/whatevs...
Anyone gonna be there this Xmas season and fancy a ride out to the country or somin? A Boxing Day ride?
I used to live on Paisley St so know what a bitch Ford Hill can be, but it's Higher Efford Road after mashing up Efford Lane that used to kill me!

Maybe I should post this in epic fail, too.
