Mass Effect isn't for everyone, for sure. To properly enjoy it, you actually need to embrace the core ideal of a role playing game. To play a role. For me, the Mass Effect series has pulled that off better than any other (new) game I've played in recent years.
The combat is great, fast paced, and looks like they've improved it as well; but the beauty of that game series is the dialogue. IMO.
