Not sure if other folks have seen this yet but it looks like Manchester is going to continue the SkyRide theme with the Great Manchester Cycle 2012. The event is schedulded for Bank Holiday Monday 4th June. All the details are on the site: http://www.greatcycle.org/Default.aspx
It looks like an interesting route, including a stretch on the Mancunian Way:
There also doing 3 different rides of 1, 2 and 4 laps so the longest route is 54 miles.
My problem with this is the price. Even the basic ride of one 13 mile lap is £28!! For the 4 lap ride that grows to £38. As someone who's not working at the moment I simply can't afford to take part. Even with the early bird group discount for 10 riders it's still nearly £23 a head.
It's great that we get a large scale ride like this, I just wish it was actually accessible to the majority of cyclists.
