You need to press the crown race on properly (ie using the correct tool), or else its likely that it won't seat entirely straight, which could effect the bikes handling and put an uneven load on the headset bearings. Take it to a bike shop, any with a workshop should have the correct tool and will be able to fit it for you. They will also be able to assess if the steerer needs any attention. I've fitted an FSA headset to a Tifosi fork before, it was pretty tight but not a problem with the correct tools.
