I get this all the time.
I was always informed that the mixer tap, is a flawed design, that is prone to leaking. We the mighty English, stick to the mighty separate design.
I now live europe, and realise this is bollocks.
There is something to be said for having to put the plug in though. So you know exactly how much water youre using.
