  • Aren't Vigorelli's almost as loathed as Mashs?

In which case, drill away, in a fortnight the frame will be fuxxored and the world will have one less Vigorelli in it.

    Other option, HTFU.

  • Just get a front brake. If you drill it for a rear brake, nobody is going to buy it off you.
It's a track bike. Sell it on and get a good amount, or drill it and struggle to move it on later, when you've had to put a new bridge in.....

  • run a front brake
gear down, fixed.. spin less.. 48 16 and and you'll be comfortable but not spinning like a boffin.
    problem solved.

  • you mean buffoon right?

Spinning like a boffin is that like spinning out and talking authoritatively on a subject?

  • Out of curiosity, how much stress does the bridge take?

  • several polo players crushed the bridge on Archie Wilkinson frames when they drilled them and installed rear brakes

    Bruvna.. you got it wrong.

2.05 for the answer to your question.

  • several polo players crushed the bridge on archie wilkinson frames when they drilled them and installed read brakes

    lol

  • get a hacksaw and cut straight through your top tube.
can you not just use a front brake and control your speed?
or just change your gearing between being in kent and being in town?

  • I've got a red alu Velo Ecosse frame with carbon forks with front and rear brakes. I'll trade it for your frame, when you are back in London we can swap back. Best of both worlds.

  • Drill it!!! DRILL IT NOW!!!

  • Dump it and get something Top of the Range from Mothercare.

  • Thanks for your reply guys (even the trolling ones ;) ) I've emailed the shop that sells them and they do fit on this frame, so imma go with that.

  • Lordy what an ugly bike.

  • And put some fucking bartape on, only twats ride without bartape.

  • Just bloody drill it. It'll be fine (probably).

Use curved washers on the tube though to spread load/fit better.

Worked fine for that guy you posted.

  • And put some fucking bartape on, only twats ride without bartape.

    ^^^^ What he said.

I'd just put a front brake on it and see how you get on with that before thinking about drilling it.
I don't think drilling aluminuim is a very good idea over the long term.
