• In my limited experience of watching work colleagues get so bladdered I wondered how they made it home on the train - which they did (invariably they lived outside London), I am now confident that some kind of 'homing pigeon' effect comes into operation for pedestrians and cyclists. Most of the time, anyway.

    it's our drunk compass, allowing people to find their way home no matter how inebriated or lost they are. Seems to work especially well with cycling. I think it it helped by a lack of sense of time while in that state of mind, but it hasn't failed me yet.
