I understand it is a social ride and im not against people having a can or two/three but being visibly drunk (not being able to ride in a straight line) is not a good thing.
In my limited experience of watching work colleagues get so bladdered I wondered how they made it home on the train - which they did (invariably they lived outside London), I am now confident that some kind of 'homing pigeon' effect comes into operation for pedestrians and cyclists. Most of the time, anyway.
