Look keo plus pedals

  • How do I tighten these to make them more effort to unclip? I have no issues unclipping at all and want to make it tighter as I worry about unclipping while doing fixe skidzz.

it has the - and + but going from one end to the other seems to make hardly any noticable difference.
It also has a allen key bit at the back of the pedal, can i tighten this or will I break it?

  • if i recall the keo plus has a very beginner friendly (annoyingly low) tension release, something from about 5 to 10Nm. oh, just checked on the look website, 0 to 8Nm groan

    keo classic - 8 to 12

    keo max - 9 to 15

  • the keo plus is based on the keo classic not the keo easy (i think??)

  • Sell Keo Plus, buy pedals with more spring tension.

I have Classics and Sprints, the Sprints are definitely tighter. Might find some cheap as they are a bit older.

Or go really old, get some Deltas and do this,

  • I have old Deltas and the tension is plenty good enough without having to resort to whatever's going on there. Turned right up it's difficult to clip in our out.

  • Don't touch that bolt; if you try to tighten it, it will break, and if you loosen it your pedals will explode and you'll never get them back together.

The above answers are correct - get Keo Sprints if you want the highest release tension, although the 15Nm max on Sprint isn't really much more than the 12Nm max on Classic/Plus. All versions of the Keo2Max also go up to 15. There's a 16Nm version of the Keo Blade if you've got plenty of money.

  • whatever's going on there

It's a track mod, no release spring at all. If you want to get out, you have to wait for your mechanic or soigneur to undo the wing nut.

  • I have classics and have fixie skidded on them with the tension on fullest with no problem.
You need to turn the little screw on top clockwise, there's a little window on the back of the pedal and you will see a bit of metal move up as the tension goes up.

  • thanks for all the advise guys

  • I've just been given a set of Look Keo Easy to try as I've invested in some road shoes, I didn't realise until I received them today that there is no tension adjustment. Has anyone run them on the road fixed and had unclipping issues?

May just save the risk and pick up dome Shimano 105's from work tomorrow.
