I've developed a new emoticon: {C-u-n-T}

Goatsee-esque.

Yes I am still alive thanks. Got in touch with Ryan and am going to book it in once I have gotten round to taking it apart. Seems a respray will cost about twice as much as the repair work though.

Rattlecan ftw

There's a place called Armortex Mike- ideal for an old beater like this. Cheap, too.
-
• #32
Excuse me. An old beater?
-

This should just buff out with a dab of Brasso.

Get a helmet cam - the driver's set of actions seem pretty irresponsible - you could have submitted the footage to both the plods and the insurance company. We had a bit of that sort of stuff in Australia recently with Shane Warne (the in-famous tosser dating your Liz Hurley) doing similar to a cyclist all the while claiming innocence.

Yeah I thought about that thanks. Mindful of what happened to Natasha Richardson. I didn't suffer a head trauma as my shoulder and then knees took the brunt of the impact. If my headache doesn't go or gets work I will go and get it checked out
Hi, just seen this. You do not have to hit your head to get concussion but the force of the whiplash can cause quite a serious concussion. All concussion really needs to be checked out within the first few hours of an accident; as the brain may swell and this is where the damage and life threatening injuries occur.
I learnt this to my cost and a number of years of from a minor car crash, where I was the driver (naughty car; must give up this awful habit!) I still have chronic migraines for which there is no cure. This was a direct result of me not going to hospital immediately.

I can offer you £50 for this frame...

• #37
Take it or leave it...

I've admired it, mainly from behind, many, many times.

mikec.. that shit'll buff out.
How was the headset/head tube/fork after the impact? You don't want one of those going too.
-
• #39
I'm assuming this will be at least safe enough to ride one journey home tonight?
I need to give it a going over before I leave to ensure the forks aren't cracked.
The whole bike is not likely to collapse beneath me though is it :$ -

I think you'll be OK, Mike... Just take it easy...
You gonna take it to Ryan? I recommend you do, he's awesome...
-
• #41
Yes I am.
But by the time I have a new tube put in and a decent respray, I am getting into the territory where I think - "Why not just buy a new frame?" -
• #42
Don't get a respray, just put the new tube in.
-
• #43
If you love this frame and you don't want change it try to contact ***SIMONCINI ***and see if they can change the top tube: http://www.simoncinitelaibiciclette.com/

Get colourtech to do it. Fiddy's choice.
-
• #45
^^It will be to expensive.

Yes I am.
But by the time I have a new tube put in and a decent respray, I am getting into the territory where I think - "Why not just buy a new frame?"I bent up the top and downtubes of a frame in the summer in the exact same way. After looking into the costs, I came to the same conclusion - I freecycled it and another forumenger is undertaking a restoration. The "disturbance in the force" is thus rectified.
I guess it really depends on how much you love her. It's Feb 14. How much do you love her? -
• #47
:)
lol reminds me of a survey I saw on facebook this morning. How much have you spent on your bike(s) compared to wife/girlfriend.
It's shameful to be honest but probably approaches ten times the amount in the last year. What can you do though? I see no need for shoes, bags and jewellery. Bikes on the other hand....Yeah I am still undecided what to do with her to be honest. I bought the frame used but hardly for £400 almost 4 years ago. Do I really want to spend over £200 getting it repaired and resprayed when I can probably chuck another couple of hundred at it and get a new Italian frame

Another question would be "how much have you spent on your girlfriend's bike?"! That kinda offsets one's culpability in channelling substantial quantities of cash into one's own stable. Or something. It hasn't fully worked as a defence for me, but it has helped.
If you got it repaired and resprayed, then you do have the freedom of reinventing it to your own colour spec, so saves you waiting around for something of your liking to come up.
Now that we know you're not about to collapse and 24 hours have passed to get past the grief of a cracked frame.
Mike, really. That emoticon in your title is a slap worthy sin.
If I could be bothered to update it you'd have just made the list.
