Another question would be "how much have you spent on your girlfriend's bike?"! That kinda offsets one's culpability in channelling substantial quantities of cash into one's own stable. Or something. It hasn't fully worked as a defence for me, but it has helped.
If you got it repaired and resprayed, then you do have the freedom of reinventing it to your own colour spec, so saves you waiting around for something of your liking to come up.
